Campaign Update—Orentlicher for Congress

Last week, our campaign took us to Tell City (home of the Schweizer Fest) for a meeting with the Perry County Democrats and to the campus of Vincennes University for the spring fundraiser at the Red Skelton Museum and Education Center. We also had several meetings in Vincennes, Terre Haute, and Boonville.
Our discussions ranged across a number of topics, including farm policy. Congress can do much to promote science-based agricultural policies that help both farmers and consumers, including the use of practices that improve crop productivity and soil conservation. For example, more selective application of fertilizer and greater use of green cover crops can generate higher yields while lowering nitrogen and phosphorus run-off into streams, rivers, and water supplies. As the campaign progresses, we’ll have more to say on farm issues that are important to the 8th District, Indiana, and the entire country.
